General Lodging Requirements

Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Kansas Food Safety and Consumer Protection, 785-296-5600, or http://www.ksfoodsafety.org (Summairzed in KBBA Member Handbook)
Commercial liability or equivalent for injury to paying guests
Kansas State Sales Tax for 4 or more rooms
Transient Guest Tax for 3 rooms or more (if communities participate)
ADA requirements for 6 or more rooms
Lodging license for 4 or more rooms

(Note: According to Kansas State Health Regulations, you should have private baths for each guest rooms (KAR 28-36-40).  The state is currently not inspecting those inns with three or less guest rooms.  However, the State of Kansas required ALL Bed and Breakfast with four or more guest rooms to have lodging licenses.  In order to qualify for your lodging license, new businesses or newly renovated facilities must have private baths.)
