Description:
The MuleSkinner Lodge with it's great wrap-around composite deck and rustic osage orange post railing is located on Raccoon Ridge overlooking a woodland creek, lower meadow and tall standing timber. There are 20 acres with some walking trails, picnic grounds, small orchard and upper hay meadow and small pond. The site is what used to be the old Denison, Kansas, fair grounds and when we removed some of the buckbrush during clean-up, beautiful blue grass sprang up, indeed, remnant of the past, some 100 years ago. We have an abundance of wildlife that includes, cottontail rabbits, coyotes, wild turkey, deer, bobcats, squirrels (red and silver fox), raccoons, o'possums, and many red foxes and gray foxes. The red ones run around all over town and just walk up the road past the lodge every now and then. One has a habit of eating June bugs under my street light.
